The Titan Boost and 240 Split Phase module are compatible with the old style of NMC batteries (Point Zero Energy batteries that do not have an on/off switch). However, in order to connect these batteries to the Boost or 240SP you will need to utilize our Battery Adapter. The Battery Adapter sits inline with the module and old style batteries and acts as an on/off switch for the old style batteries, making them compatible with the Boost and 240SP.

Battery Adapter with the Titan Boost

To use the Titan Boost with your old style NMC batteries, follow these instructions:

  1. Begin by stacking your NMC batteries
  2. Make sure the Battery Adapter on/off switch is OFF (You will know it is in the OFF position if the on/off button is flush. If it is sunken in, that means it is in the ON position)
  3. Connect the Battery Adapter on top of the NMC battery stack
  4. Make sure the Titan Boost on/off switch is in the OFF position (You will know it is in the OFF position if the on/off button is flush. If it is sunken in, that means it is in the ON position)
  5. Stack the Titan Boost onto the Battery Adapter.
  6. Turn ON the Battery Adapter. You should now see a green LED light presented on the on/off switch of the Battery Adapter, indicating it is ON.
  7. Turn ON the Titan Boost. You should now see a green LED light presented on the on/off switch of the Titan Boost, indicating it is ON.
  8. You can now use the Titan Boost with your old style NMC batteries. Note: When you are ready to turn off the system, turn the Titan Boost OFF before turning off the Battery Adapter.

Battery Adapter with the Titan 240 Split Phase

To use the Titan 240 Split Phase with your old style NMC batteries, follow these instructions:

NOTE: In order to utilize the full 240v at 4,000W through the Titan 240 Split Phase you will need to have the following

  1. At least 2 batteries
  2. 2 Battery Adapters
  3. 2 Titan Cap Expansion Modules (optional)
  4. 1 Set of Battery Expansion Cables

At least 1 battery must be connected from the bottom of the unit as well as the top of the unit.
  1. Begin by stacking your NMC batteries (make sure you have 2 different stacks of at least 1 battery in each stack).
  2. Make sure both Battery Adapters on/off switch is OFF (You will know it is in the OFF position if the on/off button is flush. If it is sunken in, that means it is in the ON position)
  3. Connect the first Battery Adapter on top of the first NMC battery stack.
  4. Connect the second Battery Adapter on top of the second NMC battery stack.
  5. Make sure the Titan 240 Split Phase on/off switch is in the OFF position (You will know it is in the OFF position if the on/off button is flush. If it is sunken in, that means it is in the ON position)
  6. Stack the Titan 240 Split Phase onto the first Battery Adapter stack.
  7. Stack the first Titan Cap Expansion Module onto the Titan 240 Split Phase (optional).
  8. Stack the second Titan Cap Expansion Module onto the second stack of batteries (optional.
  9. Using the Battery Expansion Cables, connect both Titan Cap Expansion Modules together (if caps are not used the Expansion caables will go directly from the top of the 240sp power module to the top of the Battery adapter).
  10. Turn on both Battery Adapters. You should make sure both Battery Adapters are on by checking to see that the push button is sunken in. It is important that both are turned on by verifying they are pushed in, and not by the led. The LED indicates there is power at the output of the battery, and not that the battery is turned on. This power could be supplied by the other set of batteries, and light the led even when the module is turned off. If both are not turned on, it will not use both batteries, and you will only be using the batteries that are connected to a Battery adapter that is turned on.
  11. You can now turn on the Titan 240 Split Phase module inverter by pressing the on/off switch.
  12. You may now use the 240 Split Phase module with your old style NMC batteries. Note: When you are ready to turn off the system, turn the Titan 240 Split Phase module OFF before turning off the Battery Adapters.

Additional Information:

The Titan Boost and 240 Split Phase module will charge and maintain your old style NMC batteries around 80% capacity at 27.2v. If you wish to charge them up to 100% capacity at 29.2v you will need to use the 29.2v NMC battery charger.
